Hyderabad is the capital city and most populous city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The city of Hyderabad has an estimated population of around 6.1 million. Greater Hyderabad metropolitan area has an estimated metropolitan population of 8.6 million, making it an A-1 status city. Greater Hyderabad metropolitan area which incorporates 12 surrounding muncipalities is the second largest in terms of land area in the country after Delhi.

Hyderabad has the third largest bus station facility in Asia, with 72 platforms for 89 buses to load passengers at a time. Officially named as the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station, it is locally known as the Imlibun Bus Station. The yellow colored Auto Rickshaw usually referred to as an auto, is the most widely used transport/ taxi service and has flag down of Rs 12 for first 1.5 km and then Rs 7 per km. Radio Taxis by private players have provided a luxury travel in the city but are expensive. Hyderabad is connected to the rest of the country by National Highways-NH-7, NH-9 and NH-202. Like other cities, Hyderabad suffers from traffic congestion.
Inner and Outer Ring Roads, going in and around Hyderabad city is also underway and is proposed to make travel in the city easier. Many flyovers and subways are also being constructed to ease traffic congestion in the city. Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station or MGBS earlier known as Imlibun (means forest of tamarind trees). Imlibun is a bus station in the southern part of Hyderabad, India. This bus terminus is situated at Imlibun and owned by Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC). People usually call it Imlibun bus station, though it is not the official name.
It is the largest bus station in Asia. Many buses from other states like Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra,arrive at this bus station daily. There are many bus stations owned by Andhra Pradesh State Road Transportation Corporation (APSRTC) in Hyderabad. The MGBS comes under Hyderabad Depot-1. There are also many bus stations in different areas of entire state of Andhra Pradesh. Many buses go to this bus station or starts from here because it is the main bus station.
There are also other ones like the Jubilee Bus Station but this is the biggest of them all and of course the biggest in Asia. MGBS covers an area 30 acres and built-up area in eight-hectare complex. It is completed at a cost of Rs 13 crores. There are 74 platforms for incoming and outgoing buses, a waiting hall of 7,380 square meters and a shopping complex of 3,455 square meters besides a 5,000 square meters area for private parking. MMTS or Multi-Modal Transport System is a commuter rail system in Hyderabad, India.
It was built on an equal expenditure basis by Government of Andhra Pradesh and the South Central Railway and is operated by the latter. It started its operations on August 9, 2003. The first phase covers a distance of 43 km of Secunderabad to Hyderabad to Lingampally (28 km) and Secunderabad to Falaknuma (15 km) at a cost of Rs. 178 crore.
