The TV Choice - Cable, Satellite, Or Antenna

If you think about it, there really is no best TV service, per say. Of the choices that are available to consumers, naming a TV service the best is completely a personal thing. It's a matter of opinion, and the best type is the one that works the best for you. If, for example, Bob prefers cable service over any other type of TV service, then he might say it is the best. Likewise, satellite and antenna users will claim the way they get their favorite shows on their TV is the best way.

So now the question remains: which is the best for you? Finding out what works best for you is a matter of knowing what each type of service offers or possibly trying each one out if you're up to the challenge (and quite possibly the headache of having to call to order and cancel service).

First, let's take a look at the traditional method of tuning in that has been used the last few decades. The TV antenna might be older technology, but it is still very useful and is utilized in a few million households across America and many more millions across the globe. Many experts claim that the TV antenna still produces the best picture quality because over-the-air signals provide the clearest transmission. The TV antenna's biggest advantage is its price. Other than the start-up cost of the antenna purchase, not another dollar or even penny is needed to pay for the device to receive TV service every month.

Then there is cable service. Cable, like its name implies, relies on a huge network of cable wires that run to and from service centers and subscribers' homes to provide TV service. The channel selection is plentiful, and specialty channels such as HBO, Showtime, Spike TV, and Comedy Central are available in basic and premium packages. In most cases of new customers, there will be a promotional period where the monthly fee is less expensive, but the fee will go up after that trial period ends. Satellite offers the same as cable does except it relies on a network of satellites orbiting in space to bring the entertainment to your television set. For a monthly fee, you can enjoy local TV programming as well as specialty channels and shows in HD.

So all arguments aside, which is the best? That is for you to decide!
