Do You Like To Read? Are You Looking For The Best eBook Reader? Here Are My Top Three Favorite Ones!

Almost everyone I know, loves to read. Especially me! I could easily read a book a new book every few days and keep full-steam ahead! One of the "newer" things that have started coming out are these so-called ebook readers or e-book devices. This is a device used to display e-books. It may be a device specifically designed for that purpose, or one intended for other purposes as well. The main advantages of these devices are portability, readability of their screens in bright sunlight, and long battery life.

Any Personal Data Assistant (PDA) capable of displaying text on a screen is also capable of being an e-book reader, but without the advantages of an electronic ink display. When it comes to a portable ebook reader you are going to find a few different brands, prices and options available to you. I decided to look online and really find the best of the best - these include price, quality and options. Usually what I would suggest to you is to find a site online that has reviews up that you can read about the various portable ebook reader products available to you. But as said in the title - these are my top three favorite ones at the moment!

Amazon Kindle - Amazon Kindle is a software and hardware platform developed by Amazon.com subsidiary Lab126 for reading e-books and other digital media. Three hardware devices, known as "Kindle", "Kindle 2," and "Kindle DX" support this platform, as does an iPhone application called "Kindle for iPhone". The first device was released in the United States on November 19th, 2007. The Kindle hardware devices use E Ink brand electronic paper displays, and are able to download content over Amazon Whispernet using the Sprint EVDO network.

Kindle hardware devices can be used without a computer, and Whispernet is accessible without any fee. These devices also provide free access to the Internet! Really if you are looking for the best of the best - you will want to take a look at the Amazon Kindle. This best ebook reader, originally sold for close to $ 400. Thankfully Amazon has now lowered the price to a mere $ 299! The 250 MB of internal memory in the Amazon Kindle 1 can hold approximately 200 non-illustrated titles, and the memory is expandable with an SD memory card.

Now this.. is awesome. 200 books? Jeez oh man, I could literally read book after book after book and still not get through all the ones available on my Amazon Kindle! As seen above - there are also different versions for the Amazon Kindle as well. Each one is going to offer a different screen size, a different amount of memory and a different price - obviously!

Sony Reader - The Sony Reader is an e-book reader. It uses an electronic paper display developed by E Ink Corporation that has 166 dpi (200 dpi in 5 inch version PRS-300) resolution, eight levels of gray scale (16 in the PRS-2121 model), is viewable in direct sunlight, requires no power to maintain a static image, and is usable in portrait or landscape orientation. The reader uses an iTunes Store-like interface to purchase books from Sony Connect eBook store.

It also can display Adobe PDFs, ePub format, personal documents, blogs, RSS newsfeeds, JPEGs, and Sony's proprietary BBeB ("BroadBand eBook") format. The Reader can play MP3 and unencrypted AAC audio files. This is a wee bit more expensive - personally I think it's because it has the SONY name on it - the PRS-2121 is just under the original price of the Amazon Kindle at $ 399! To my knowledge this one hasn't come out just yet, but you can view the available portable ebook reader that are available on Sony or on Wiki to find out more.

Bookeen Cybook Opus - Recently released in June, the Cybook Opus is a pocket-size e-book reader that claims to be the lightest one currently in existence, weighing in at 5.3 ounces. Featuring a 5-inch screen and designed for one-hand operation, the Opus appears to follow Samsung's route of portability being a primary goal. A built-in accelerometer allows the display to work in both portrait and landscape mode, while 1GB of on-board memory should provide enough storage for casual readers to carry enough content with them during the day. The device's file extension of choice is ePub, but PDFs, HTML and image formats are also supported. Users seeking to purchase content can do so through booksonboard via computer, whose titles can then be transferred to the Opus via USB.

Obviously if you look online for best ebook reader or portable ebook reader - the Amazon Kindle is ALWAYS going to be on the top list on anyone's list. It wasn't the first ever made. It won't be the last. The Kindle is a gadget lover's dream, with loads of fun features. Audio capacity means that it can 'read' your book out loud to you, or you can listen to music while relaxing with your newspaper. There's also a basic web browser (suitable for accessing text-based web pages), access to Wikipedia and a built-in dictionary. Over all - I like the Kindle the best.

But obviously what you like is going to depend on you and what you are willing to pay. Frankly, I don't think a company asking you to pay $ 200-$ 300 for a portable ebook reader is too bizarre. I mean this is a device that has over 300,000 books plus U.S. and international newspapers, magazines, and blogs available to you. To me? That's well worth its weight in gold. Again, the choice is yours! But the above three are by far the best ones available to you right now (if you are in the US). Good luck in whatever choice you choose from. I'm almost positive this is going to be one of those products you just won't ever get sick of or put down for that matter!

This Author is a huge fan of Amazon Kindle
