The Potentials of Information Technology Sector

The information technology is the buzz word all around. Be it business or be it profession. Every third person we meet now a days is associated with an IT firm in some way or the other. In fact it will not be incorrect to state that Information Technology has become a brand identity as a knowledge economy due to its IT and ITES sector.

The IT and ITES domain has two major components - IT services and business process outsourcing (BPO). The IT service sector has increased its contribution by over 6% in India's GDP. As per studies, the IT-BPO sector in India is believed to have grown by more than 9% in 2012. The information technology industry is more dominant by exports. Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune are the major cities contributing in this area. Statistics say that exports contribute to almost 75% of the total industry revenue.

Other than exports, we also see significant revenue growth in the domestic IT market. The popular IT companies in India include Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro and HCL Technologies. Considering the fact that there is huge expansion happening in the IT sector, there are by far great job potentials. The year 2012 is expected to add 230,000 professionals to the IT sector.

Talking about the recent IT developments in India, Bangalore is the most prominent place. It is also called as the IT hub or the Silicon Valley of India. A home to various software companies, Bangalore contributes 33% of Indian IT exports. Mumbai too is a part of the high-tech game. There are various IT giants in the city, including TCS, Patni, LnT Infotech, i-Flex, WNS, Shine, Naukri, Jobspert etc.

As per recent news, Cap Gemini will increase its staff in India, as compared to the numbers it employs in its home market of France. Knowing all of this, it is certainly wise to invest in this sector both as a business and profession. There are various fields in the IT domain that can be explored for gaining expertise.

Some of the common IT fields include Project Management training, Virtualization, Business Intelligence, Security and Hacking, Web Design and Development etc. There are a lot of training institutes now-a-days that offer certifications in different technologies. Companies like Microsoft, Oracle, Zend, Adobe, Linux, Citrix etc have their own prescribed courses and curriculum.

IT training institutes specialize in these trainings and offer education via industry certified instructors. This helps people to get proficiency in the concepts related to the technology. Post the learning process, participants need to appear for respective exams. Passing those exams is essential in order to get professional certification in that technology.

So if technology is your area of interest, it is judicious to understand the several available options and pursue a certification that you find interesting.
